Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 Nov 2020)
Brief Synopsis – A teenager travels to a rural town to kill her father, but after finding him dead she tries to discover who killed him and why.
My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and knew absolutely nothing about before sitting down to watch it.
I have enjoyed some of Mickey Rourke’s work and hoped that he would be able to help make this story seem more engaging and plausible.
Unfortunately, this film’s plot is horrendous and the way that things are presented comes across as being far too boring for its own good.
They fail to develop any of these characters on more than a superficial level and that makes it even harder to truly care about any of them or about things that occur throughout the course of the movie.
Rourke’s character is extremely laughable here and he isn’t convincing at all.
Bella Thorne is so far out of her depth with this character and isn’t able to convince the viewer that we actually want to root for her which is essential in a revenge thriller like this one.
The story is quite predictable the whole way through and fails to give us anything really enjoyable to seek here because of the way that things are presented.
Bottom Line – Really boring revenge story that isn’t engaging at all. The characters are far too under developed and it’s quite difficult caring about any of them as things progress. Rourke can be a great actor, but his character is quite laughable here. Thorne seems out of her depth in this role and isn’t effective in making us root for her character as things unfold in a very predictable fashion the entire time.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film premiered on September 25, 2020, both in the United States at the Fantastic Fest in Austin as part of the online lineup, and with a socially distanced gala screening at the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival before being added to that festival’s online platform.
