“If they are willing to kill another agent… what are they capable of doing to you and me? ” – Tom
Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Dec 2020)
Brief Synopsis – A bank robber falls in love and decides to turn himself in to the FBI in order to try and et a lesser sentence.
My Take on it – I have been a fan of Liam Neeson action films for some time now and I never seem to tire of seeing him play very similar roles in subsequent movies.
This movie is no different.
The premise is intriguing despite the fact that it isn’t as effective as it could be.
Neeson does a wonderful job in the lead role and is helped by Kate Walsh, Jai Courtney, Jeffrey Donovan and Robert Patrick who all help make things more engaging to watch unfold.
The story and plot of this film aren’t at all innovative or unique in what they try and do here and things are a bit too predictable as they play out exactly as one might expect them to.
There are a few fun action scenes that stand out that help make this a bit more fun to watch.
There is no question about this being a fun popcorn film with a very simple and straight forward premise that one can turn off their brain for 90+ minutes, yet they never take things in a deeper direction which might have made things even more enjoyable to take in.
Bottom Line – Interesting idea that isn’t as effective as one might hope. The cast is great with Neeson, Walsh, Donovan, Courtney and Patrick making things more intriguing to watch. The story isn’t really new or innovative and things move in a very predictable manner yet there still are a few good scenes that help make things more enjoyable. The plot is pretty simple and this makes the film a great popcorn action thriller that one can turn their brain off for 90 minutes.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones, who play Agent Ramon Hall and Beth Hall, are engaged in real life. They met while playing in the Broadway musical Hamilton (2020). (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
