Superbad (2007)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“He is the sweetest guy. Have you ever looked into his eyes? It was like the first time I heard the Beatles” – Seth

Number of Times Seen – 3 times (11 Nov 2007, Jan 2010 and 14 Dec 2020)

Brief Synopsis – Two high school seniors plan a last weekend of booze and babes before they go off to college.

Bottom Line – Amazing film that works so well largely due to the performances by Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. We can really believe their friendship by they way they interact during the course of the story.  The story is able to keep things so enjoyable throughout by the various antics and fun things that happen to them along the way. The side story with Christopher Mintz-Plasse is hilariously done and he has such great timing with Seth Rogan and Bill Hader. The film is able to make all of the things that happen to these characters seem so plausible throughout and remains hilarious from start to finish.  It’s quite impressive that Rogan and his writing partner Evan Goldberg were able to make this story work so well especially given the fact that they were trying to perfect it for years. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In a skit for the Special Edition DVD commentary Judd Apatow had his nine-year-old daughter with him. He asked that no one swear in front of her. Jonah Hill swore numerous times, angering Apatow. After an argument, Apatow left the commentary with his daughter. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)
