Young Adult (2011)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“Sometimes in order to heal… a few people have to get hurt.” – Mavis Gary

Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Dec 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A lonely divorcee travels to her hometown in order try and break up the marriage of her former boyfriend.

Bottom Line – Terrible film that doesn’t work at all. The characters aren’t developed well enough and they fail to be sympathetic at all which makes it harder to really care about them. Patton Oswalt stands out the most among all of them, but something still seems off with everything he does. The story itself is a bit far fetched and off the wall which also hurts things far too much.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – When they were casting the movie, Jason Reitman asked Diablo Cody what she thought about Patton Oswalt for the role of Matt, and if the writer knew the actor’s work. Cody replied deadpan: “Are you serious?” This, of course, because Oswalt was a semi-regular actor on Cody’s television show, United States of Tara (2009). (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
