Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the life and career of the famous radio and TV personality Walter Winchell.
Bottom Line – Great documentary that does a wonderful job showing how events and circumstances led to Winchell create the idea of gossip columns in the newspaper. We learn so much about the man via the interviews with family members, colleagues and other contemporary socialites. His views on Hollywood, politics along with so many other subjects allowed him to become so popular in his day that everyone courted him for larger things. His column became so popular that he gained so much control over many Hollywood persona because he was able choose whether he wanted to make or break anyone. Recommended!
