Cash McCall (1960)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“I’m not a moralist, I’m a lawyer.” – Winston Conway

Number of Times Seen – 1 (29 Dec 2020)

Brief Synopsis – An intelligent young businessman who  buys and sells companies for a profit gets into trouble when dealing with a company who’s CEO is the father of a young woman that he has fallen in love with.

Bottom Line – Typical rom-com of the 60’s that doesn’t manage to do anything unique or special in the way that it all unfolds.  James Garner is ok in the lead but his chemistry with Natalie Woos is almost non-existent. The dialogue is fine here despite things being far too predictable along the way.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – James Garner’s last film under his Warner Brothers contract. After a writer’s strike halted all Warner Brothers productions, even though Garner had a “play or pay” contract, Warner Brothers refused to pay him. Garner sued the studio for breach of contract and won. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
