Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 Jan 2021)
Brief Synopsis – Two brothers who always cause problems at family affairs are forced to bring dates to their sister’s wedding in Hawaii.
My Take on it – This is a film that I have been avoiding for years because it just sounded so crazy and I didn’t think that I would enjoy it at all.
The truth is that they find ways to keep this story quite fun despite the overall stupidity of it all.
The characters and what happens to them stays engaging the whole way through.
The film has a great cast led by Zac Efron and Adam Devine who somehow make us really believe that they are brothers in these roles.
Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza are also both lots of fun in this film and help make things so funny to watch.
The characters get into some crazy antics here which are really fun to watch unfold and despite most of it being so unbelievable, it feel so fluid in the way things play out here.
I was shocked to find out that this film is based upon the lives of two real people, but it’s quite obvious to see that this film has been Hollywoodicized because there is no way some of these things actually happened in reality.
Love the Jurassic Park (1993) scenes because I never knew they were all filmed in a real place since I assumed it was all via special effects.
Bottom Line – Really fun film that despite it’s pure stupidity still is able to stay engaging. The cast is great and Efron and Devine do a great job making us believe that they are really brothers. Kendrick and Plaza are also great here and help make things so much more enjoyable to watch the story unfold. The antics that these characters play along the way are so much fun to watch and it all flows so well throughout. Its a bit surprising that the overall premise is actually based on real people and there is no question about whether this has been Hollywoodized because some of the things that happen couldn’t have happened in real life. Great seeing these characters hang out in the place where they filmed some of the most powerful scenes in Jurassic Park (1993)
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The ATV jump scene and the wedding ceremony were filmed at Kualoa Ranch on Oahu. The ATV scene was filmed in the same valley as Jurassic Park (1993) and Jurassic World (2015). (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
