Horizon Line (2020)

“I forgot you filmed all this.” – Jackson

Number of Times Seen – 1 (13 Jan 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A couple are trapped on an airplane in the middle of the ocean after their pilot has a fatal heart attack.

My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and was quite curious as to how they would make this premise feel even more intriguing.

Unfortunately, they don’t give us something more powerful and the story feels far too mediocre in how it all plays out.

The characters aren’t developed on anything more than a cursory or superficial level and that makes it so much harder to really care about any of them or about anything that happens to them along the way.

The story itself is quite predictable and things play out in a way that is completely expected which takes away so much of the potential for tension and suspense.

The various events that happen to these characters feel far too contrived and that also hurts things too much because there isn’t any reason to root for them to survive this ordeal.

This film’s overall premise has been used so many times before and this film fails to find a way to present things in a more unique manner that would help make it all much more intriguing or fascinating to watch unfold.

The minimal cast isn’t able to enhance things largely due to the lack of chemistry between the two leads and also because the way that things move along doesn’t feel realistic enough in how it all is presented to us.

Bottom Line – Pretty mediocre thriller that doesn’t manage to give us enough things to care about. The characters are far too superficial and they never develop any of them more than on a cursory level which makes it harder to acre about them or about what happens to them along the way. The story plays out in a very predictable way and that lowers the tension level no matter what happens along the way. The film fails to give us something more powerful and suspenseful because everything that happens feels a bit too contrived and lacks any kind of real uniqueness to the way things play out.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The airplane in the movie is a GippsAero GA-8 Airvan. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
