The Mole Agent (2020)

“Life is cruel, after all.” – Petita

Number of Times Seen – 1 (28 Jan 2021)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary about an investigator who hires an octogenarian to help investigate whether a nursing home is treating its patients properly.

My Take on it – This is a film that I have heard some really fascinating things about recently and decided to see hat it was all about.

I was someone surprised at how unique a documentary this film is since it is able to find a way to give us an insiders look and perspective on the way that a nursing home is run.

There are far too many similar place sin the world that have become suspect of wrongdoings and until one actually sees how it all works from an insiders perspective, one truly never knows the real truth.

The story plays out in a really interesting way and stays engaging throughout.

This film doesn’t use actors and that helps make things feel even more reliable to believe because they have little to lose by telling the truth here.

The film has some great shots of the story that help enhance the story because of the way that it shows things from a direct perspective of a character like this one who is so calm and collected in the way that he tales on this new task of going undercover where he is touched by those that he meets along that journey.

Bottom Line – Fascinating documentary that really gives us an inside look at the way that nursing homes can become suspect of wrongdoings and until someone is able to give an insider perspective on things, it is hard to know the real truth. The documentary plays out in an intriguing way that is able to keep things engaging throughout. Since the characters aren’t actors, their perspective in things is even more reliable to believe because they seem to have nothing to hide. The way some of the scenes are shot helps enhance the story because we get to see things from the direct perspective of the main character who is great to watch as he takes on this under cover assignment. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The production team didn’t tell the nursing home director until the end that Sergio Chamy was an undercover detective. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
