The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.
This month’s genre has been chosen by Aaron Neuwirth of the Code is Zeek and we will be reviewing our favorite Horror-Comedy Films.
Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Feb by sending them to scaryfunnyaaron@movierob.net
Try to think out of the box! Great choice Aaron!
Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Horror-Comedy Films……
“I thought I was stuck in the same day for some big, cosmic reason – facing my mom’s death – but it had nothing to do with her. Turns out it was just some scientific fluke.” – Tree Gelbman
Number of Times Seen – Twice (10 Sep 2020 and 2 Feb 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A college student once again must relive the same day over and over after she is transported into an alternate universe.
My Take on it – Great sequel to the events of the first film that resonate so well throughout.
They find the perfect tone for this story that helps them keep things so engaging and enjoyable to watch as things unfold.
The main cast returns from the first film and once again Jessica Rothe is able to show how perfect she can be in this kind of role.
The choice to bend together numerous fantasy/sci-fi elements into the story helps make tings feel fresh and unique instead of retreading the ideas of the first film.
The plot is quite clever and stays intelligent throughout even if they don’t necessarily take everything so seriously along the way.
Love the way that they manage to twist things around so that they are able to take this premise to some really entertaining levels along the way.
They do a nice job keeping things so much fun along the way while also filling in some loose plot points from the original film.
Can’t wait to see what they plan to do with the rumored next film in this series which will hopefully come out soon.
Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Jessica Rothe said her favorite death in the movie was falling out of the plane, in a bikini, without a parachute and landing in front of Carter and Danielle. This death was also not part of the original film and was added during re-shoots. (From IMDB)
Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Another great way to tell this kind of story that works so well even if it slightly misses the ability to make things even better than the first film.
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10) (no change from original review)
