Number of Times Seen – 1 (20 Feb 2021)
Brief Synopsis – A successful New York City fashion designer must return to her home town in Alabama in order to get a divorce before she can marry the son of the mayor, but complications arise when she shows up in the South.
My Take on it – Really fun romantic comedy that works really well.
The cats is great and Reese Witherspoon shows how great a actress she can be with this role.
Her chemistry with both Patrick Dempsey and Josh Lucas is superb and makes us really believe everything that happens.
The story is told in a really fun way that keeps things quite interesting throughout.
They develop these characters really well and make us care so much about them all which makes this love triangle type of story even more frustrating to watch because there is reason to really root for all the characters to succeed.
The supporting cats is also great and Fred Ward really stands out as Witherspoon’s very Southern father.
The pacing is done really well and they find ways to make things so engaging and enjoyable to watch unfold.
The film is able to give us some great music along the way and obviously that includes the Alabama state song – Sweet Home Alabama (which obviously gave them the name of this film too).
I personally love the song in any variation, but the Sheryl Crow and Jewel version made for this film works so well in my eyes.
