The Bad Batch (2016)

“All the things you’ve done, have put you right here… with me. To life… life is The Dream. The only Dream. Cost lot to be here. Cost you an arm and a leg.” – The Dream

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Feb 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A young women is captured by cannibals and tries to find a way to escape.

My Take on it – Very strange and weird film that fails to work at all.

The characters are presented in a way that doesn’t make them sympathetic at all and that hurts things because the viewer has no reason to care about anything that happens to them along the way.

The cast is talented, yet none are given much to do here which is quite a shame because they have much more potential here than is realized.

The story moves along at a super slow pace and isn’t entertaining or engaging enough to want to even know what will happen as things move along.

The story itself is quite a mess and isn’t able to make things seem realistic enough especially given some of the choices in the direction of the story which just doesn’t work.

The dystopian world is done well and we et a clear idea of the desolation and desperation that has encompassed the world that these characters inhabit.

The fact that the characters aren’t developed on more than a superficial level hurts things far too much.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – No soundstage work here. The entire film was filmed in extreme locations, and primarily outdoors in high heat. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
