“And that’s why, in a straight fight, a shark would probably beat a Dracula. ” – Pirate Captain
Number of Times Seen – Twice (19 Aug 2012 and 21 Feb 2021)
Brief Synopsis – In order to prove that he is the best pirate in the world, a pirate captain takes his crew to England in an attempt to vie for the title.
My Take on it – Fun yet really silly story.
The stop motion animation makes things even more intriguing to watch as things progress in some pretty predictable directions.
The voice cast is exceptional and Hugh Grant stands out among the rest in the lead role.
The plot is a bit off the wall and they try too hard to make things feel even more relevant than it truly is.
The supporting cast is also chosen well with Martin Freeman, Imelda Staunton, David Tenner and Jeremy Piven all adding in some fun humor along the way.
The best character IMHO is the monkey who is given some hilarious things to do.
Love the way that they utilize a map to show their travels while animating it in some very unique ways.
The rest of the animation is also wondrous to watch because of some of the various things that they do here in order to try and make things more intriguing and interesting to watch.
Unfortunately, the story leaves much to be desired
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In real life, Charles Darwin was a member of the Gourmet or Glutton society which involved eating, not necessarily endangered, but unusual animals such as parakeets and owls. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
