Catwoman (2004)

“Cats come when they feel like it. Not when they’re told.” – Catwoman

Number of Times Seen – Twice (15 Sep 2005 and 17 Mar 2021)

Brief Synopsis – After a woman gets superpowers that make her very agile and possess the qualities of a cat, she tries to decide whether to use her powers for good or for criminal purposes.

My Take on it – Terrible superhero movie that makes so little sense.

None of the characters are developed at all and it’s quite hard to sympathize with any of them or with anything they do.

The character of Catwoman is definitely fascinating especially given the way she is never a clear cut villain or hero, but this film fails to give us an interesting story.

There are too many scenes that drag on too long and that pulls things down too far along the way.

Halle Berry is a great actress, but one couldn’t tell that from this film.

The supporting cast is also quite talented, but none of the are given enough to do here.

Sharon Stone and Benjamin Bratt both stand out here despite the fact that their characters seem too two dimensional in the way they are presented.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Halle Berry became one of only six actors in history (only five at the time) to possess both an Oscar and a Razzie, after her “win” for her infamous performance in this movie. She also became the first to accept their Razzie in person – walking out on stage proudly holding both Oscar and Razzie aloft. She gave a short acceptance speech: “I’d like to thank Warner Brothers, for making me do this godawful, piece of s**t movie!” (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
