Brief Synopsis – Shaun the Sheep and his friends encounter an alien and try to find a way to open an amusement park to make some money.
My Take on it – I had hopes that this film would be as fun as the original film that came out four years earlier, but boy was I wrong.
This is really a very silly sequel that just doesn’t work as well as the original film did.
The antics that the characters encounter and find themselves in are somewhat far fetched and don;t give us any reason to care about them.
The slapstick in this film also is a bit off and there are far fewer humorous aspects of the story.
The animation is the saving grace of this film and they once again are able to show that stop motion animation like this can contend just as easily with digital animation when to comes to many of the animation accolades including at the Oscars.
The alien character is a bit too strange and doesn’t mesh very well with the farm animals in the series and something seems off the entire time.
It’s too bad that they couldn’t find another way to tell this story since it does have some potential, but just doesn’t manage to work here.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Rocky the rooster from Aardmans film Chicken Run (2000) makes a brief non speaking cameo in one scene. He is standing on a wall holding a coffee mug (which he drops) with his name on it. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
