Number of Times Seen – Twice (6 Dec 2009 and 8 Apr 2021)
Brief Synopsis – A lonely crossword puzzle maker for a local newspaper falls in love with a cameraman and travels across the country to win his heart.
My Take on it – Absolutely horrendous film that doesn’t work on any level.
Both Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper are great actors, but it makes one wonder why they chose to partake in this farce.
The story isn’t able to find a way to stay interesting at any point and it gets to be quite a chore trying to follow these characters in the crazy and silly situations that they find themselves in.
The supporting cast is also great but even Thomas Haden Church and Ken Jeong can’t make things more fun to watch.
The story goes in some very strange directions and gets more annoying as things progress instead of the opposite.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Sandra Bullock won the Golden Raspberry (“Razzie”) Award for Worst Actress for this film, and appeared at the event to claim her prize, becoming only the second actress to accept the award in person, after Halle Berry in 2005. Bullock brought a wagon full of DVDs of the film for the three hundred attendees, and stated she believed most voters had not actually watched the film and voted for her just to see if she would appear at the ceremony. She asked them to watch or re-watch the film, and if the audience changed their minds and decided she was not the “Worst Actress”, Bullock promised to come to the ceremony next year, return her award, and buy drinks for everybody. Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
