“We humans, we human beings, whatever we are, we’re just homicidal killing machines. Get it. Homicidal killing machines, that’s all. And all the military training and all that stuff oh, it’s just finishing school.” – The Mentor
Number of Times Seen – 1 (27 Apr 2021)
Brief Synopsis – A hitman is sent to take out an unnamed target in a small town, yet must try and figure out who the target is.
My Take on it – Great idea that doesn’t work at all.
The story tries too hard to be intriguing yet all of its efforts fall flat.
The characters aren’t developed at all and they try to present things in a far too matter of fact way.
Anson Mount was great as Christopher Pike in the recent Star Trek TV series, but isn’t the greatest lead for this film.
Besides Mount, the film has an ok supporting cast that include by two veteran actors and an up and coming actress along the way, but even the great Anthony Hopkins, along with Abbie Cornish and David Morse can’t help make this more enjoyable.
The way that the main character narrates the whole story is a bit irritating because they try to explain things to the viewer that just don’t come across interesting enough for us to really care.
The film has a few twists and turns along the way, but they feel far too predictable in the way they end up turning out afterwards which is quite a shame because one expects things to be more surprising in a thriller like this one.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Part of this movie was filmed in Scranton, Pennsylvania. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
