The Accidental Husband (2008)

“You don’t have to be so right all the time you know, it’s okay to make a couple mistakes.” – Wilder

Number of Times Seen – Twice (28 Dec 2008 and 5 May 2021)

Brief Synopsis – After a radio talk show host accidentally breaks up a happily engaged couple, the man decided to enact revenge on her.

My Take on it – Intriguing idea for a Rom-Com that unfortunately doesn’t work well enough.

There is no chemistry what so ever between Uma Thurman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan and that hurts things so much.

Neither of them really fit the romantic comedy genre eventho Thurman is borderline.

Morgan is much better as gruff characters like in The Walking Dead as Negan or in Watchmen (2009) as the Comedian, but not in a film like this one.

The characters get a bit annoying along the way and that makes it even more difficult to root for them to eventually get together.

The film does have a great supporting cast led by Colin Firth and Sam Shepherd, but neither is given enough to do here.

The film makes some very strange choices along the way and doesn’t allow for things to play out as they probably should.

There are a few too many plot holes in the story that also make this even less believable to watch as the story progresses.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In this film, Uma Thurman is an expert who gives advice to callers of a radio program. In The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1996) , she plays a model, who pretends to be an expert, who gives advice to callers on a radio show. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
