Jennifer’s Body (2009)

“It’s true. It’s on the Wikipedia.” – Chastity

Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 May 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A cheerleader becomes possessed and starts to murder local teenage boys.

My Take on it – Dark comedy that didn’t work as well as I had expected it to.

The overall premise about high school revenge reminded me of a mix of Heathers (1989) and teenage horror films of the 80’s and 90’s.

Unfortunately, despite having a great lead cast including Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, it just doesn’t manage to stay interesting enough throughout.

J.K. Simmons is hilarious as the school principal and the wig he wears throughout the film makes him look even funnier.

They never really take the time to develop any of the characters in a more profound way and that makes it even more difficult to truly care about any of them or about anything that transpires as the story moves along.

The classroom scenes are presented in a pretty unbelievable way and that also takes away from the way one can view this story.

The story is told in a very strange way and it plays out in a pretty predictable path.

The film is bookended by an epilogue that is done in a completely different tone than the rest of the film and that makes things even more difficult to take seriously everything that supposedly transpires here.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – To prepare for her role as a possessed living-dead teenager, Megan Fox lost around 15 lbs, bringing her weight down to a near-frail 97 lbs, and stayed out of the sun. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
