The Woman in the Window (2021)

“You don’t think it’s paranoid if I wanna change the locks. Do you?” – Anna Fox

Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 May 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A child psychologist suffering from agoraphobia thinks she has witnessed a murder in the apartment across the street, but no one will believe her.

My Take on it – Intriguing premise that works quite well.

This is a film that takes an idea that seems to not be very original, yet finds a way to keep things so innovative and thrilling the whole way through.

Amy Adams is superb in the lead role and truly makes us believe the various issues that her character must deal with throughout the film.

The film is adapted really well from the novel by Tracy Letts and they find ways to give the story numerous twists and turns along the way that help make it more suspenseful to watch unfold.

The dialogue is also great and really allows the viewer to get a full idea of everything that is going on especially as things begin to change directions along the way.

The rest of the cast besides Adams is also great with Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Wyatt Russell all helping to keep things quite mysterious the whole way through.

The way that the story allows us to try and experience the fears of the main character also adds to the way things play out and helps keep it fascinating to watch unfold.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This marks the first instance of screenwriter Tracy Letts writing a film adaptation not based on his own works. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
