Night School (2018)

“Aren’t you a little old to be a pop-star?” – Mila

“Aren’t you a little young to die?” – Luis

Number of Times Seen – 1 (19 May 2021)

Brief Synopsis – In order to get a prestigious job, a salesman must attend night school to complete his GED.

My Take on it –This is a film that I have avoided watching ever since it came out because I assumed it would be a compete waste of time.

Boy was I wrong and they manage to present a really funny premise that works quite well.

Kevin Hart is great in the lead and makes his character come to life due to the eccentric ways that he plays things.

The supporting cast is hilarious and they are able to develop each of them in such really fun ways.

Rob Riggle, Tiffany Haddish, Romany Malco, Taran Killam, Al Madrigal, Mary Lynn Rajskab, Keith David and Megalyn Echikunwoke are each able to add so much to the way that things move along.

The story gives us an innovative twist to something that doesn’t on the surface feel very original and that helps keep things so entertaining throughout.

The jokes sometimes go a bit too far, but within the context of things they still work and help add to the humor of each of the situations that are presented here as the story develops.

The flashback scenes that show high school are extremely funny especially with the way that Hart and Killam play these younger versions of their characters.

Recommended!
