Number of Times Seen – At least twice (Cable in the 80’s and 4 Jun 2021)
Brief Synopsis – Two military detectives must try and solve a string of murders in Vietnam by a senior officer.
My Take on it – Intriguing idea that works most of the time.
Gregory Hines and Willem DaFoe are both great in these roles and they bring a kind of cavalier attitude to the way that they investigate this crime.
The film’s story does a nice job blending together the aspects of the ongoing war with having these characters track a serial killer within their midst.
The movie has some nice action things that work really well in establishing the lengths these characters will go in order to try and catch their prey.
The problem with this film tho is that despite the two main character having great attitudes, their characters aren’t developed enough in order to make the viewer care more about what can happen to them as the cross basic lines while attempting to solve this crime.
The mystery isn’t played out well and they allow for things to seem far too ambiguous in certain places along the way.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Director and co-writer Christopher Crowe helped toss out dummies in the sequence with Scott Glenn in the helicopter. Crowe was supposed to have a safety cord attached to the helicopter to prevent him from falling out, but found out after the sequence was shot that said cord was never attached to the helicopter.
