RV (2006)

“[repeated line] Dad, the RV’s rolling away.” – Cassie Munro

Number of Times Seen – Twice (31 Dec 2006 and 8 Jun 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A businessman takes his family on a RV trip across the country in order to help them find a way to bond.

My Take on it – Silly yet fun road trip movie that is helped by its superb cast.

Robin Williams is amazing in the lead role despite the fact that it’s quite difficult to imagine him as the patriarch of a family like this one.

The hi-jinx that happen along their journey are mostly completely impossible yet they still stay fun to watch unfold despite this.

Jeff Daniels is great in a happy-go-luck supporting role that is quite lovable to watch because of the nature of his character and of his family who are so much like him.

On the surface this movie is quite a mess, yet they find a way to find lots of realism in the characters, their dynamics and their interactions along the way which helps make it ever so more enjoyable to watch unfold.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The scene where Jamie, Cassie and Carl are listening to music on the headphones and singing to different songs all at once, driving Bob mad, was actually based on a real life incident to happened to Barry Sonnenfeld. Barry and a film crew were filming a documentary in Japan and during a bus ride, Barry and the crew wore headphones, each of them listening to different song and singing the different songs out loud. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy 6/10)
