“What do I know that you need so bad?” – Evan MacCauley
Number of Times Seen – 1 (11 Jun 2021)
Brief Synopsis – A man suffering from a mental disorder seems to be the key in helping a global war between being that remember their past lives.
My Take on it – Intriguing premise that could have worked even better.
Mark Wahlberg is great in the lead role and helps keep the story feeling more interesting since his character is also just learning about everything going on.
The action scenes are great and they do an adequate job of explaining the situation along with developing these characters.
The biggest problem here tho is the fact that there is a feeling the entire way through that something just isn’t original enough with this premise and the way that things are presented.
The story feels rushed at too many junctures and this might have been much better as a limited series or as a longer movie that would help expand on the story, characters and situations that they all get into along the way.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The movie made its way into Hollywood through crowd sourcing. The movie is based off the book “The Reincarnationist Papers” by D. Eric Maikranz. Eric found it difficult to catch the attention of a literary agent that would sell the book to Hollywood. Eric instead crowd sourced his agent hunt by offering a commission to his readers for anyone that could get his book into Hollywood. And by putting that commission on the first page of his book, Eric empowered an army of readers to get his book onto the big screen. Eighteen months later, Eric received an email from a Hollywood assistant director that found his book in a hostel in Nepal. In 2017, Paramount Pictures bought the rights. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
