Genre Guesstimation – Meatballs III: Summer Job (1986)

The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.

This month’s genre has been chosen by Joe of The MN Movie Man and we will be reviewing our favorite Summer Camp Movies.

Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Jun by sending them to

Try to think out of the box! Great choice Joe!

Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Summer Camp Movies……

“The 11 O’Clock News has just learned that porn film star, Roxanne Dujour, died today on the set of her recent film, E.A.T. Me 2. According to reliable sources, her last words were, Oh God! Oh My! Oh Yes! Oh Yes, Yes! Oh My God, Yes Yes! Oh, Oh, Oh! Yes!” – TV Newscaster

Number of Times Seen – at least twice (Cable in the 80’s and 14 Jun 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A camper gets help from a recently deceased porn star in the ways of love over the summer.

My Take on it – Terrible film that doesn’t work at all.

Patrick Dempsey is the bets part of this movie because he was the typical teen actor that could get a full makeover and turn himself from nerd to stud in any teen comedy.

The idea of having Sally Kellerman help him win the heart of the girl of his dreams is too far fetched and doesn’t come across in a realistic way at all because their interactions are beyond belief.

The story drags along too much and fails to give the viewer anything worthwhile to try and cultivate from it.

The dialogue is atrocious and also doesn’t add to the story at all.

I’m not at all surprised that Jim Carrey dropped out of this film at the last minute. (see Trivia section below)

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Jim Carrey originally was suppose to star and backed out 3 weeks prior to production. (From IMDB)

Genre Grandeur Worthy? – No way!

Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
