Number of Times Seen – Twice (6 Nov 2006 and 17 Jun 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A man wakes up and finds that he now has the ability to run his life like he was in a movie via a remote control, but is it real or a dream?

My Take on it – This is a film with a great premise that starts off really good, but careens out of control along the way.

Adam Sandler has proven over the years that he can be a great actor, but most of the time, he chooses not to be and plays somewhat reprehensible characters who are hard to actual like.

This film is a perfect example of that.

The idea that a person would wish to live their life in the same manner as one uses a remote control has so much more potential than is realized here in this story.

In addition to Sandler, this film has a very talented cast that are all wasted by the way that the plot moves along.

Henry Winkler, Kate Beckinsale, Sean Astin and Julie Kavner all deserve much more than they are given here.

The best part of this film is Christopher Walken in a hilarious role.

As I previously mentioned Sandler and co. take this story beyond the normal limits and that is just too much because it detracts so much from the potential that this kind of story has.

This is especially true when trying to give the viewer a much more meaningful story.

The overall message of this movie is quite profound, just not delivered or presented properly which is quite a shame.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The coin trick that Henry Winkler does in the movie is something the actor does in real life. During public appearances, Winkler will often do the trick for children. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
