The Misfits (2021)

“Funny thing about safe deposit boxes… ain’t nothing safe about them.” – Ringo

Number of Times Seen – 1 (22 Jun 2021)

Brief Synopsis – An escaped prisoner is recruited to help in a gold heist for a band of thieves who never keep their loot since they always give it to some charitable organization.

My Take on it – Really boring and silly heist movie that doesn’t work at despite its impressive cast.

Pierce Brosnan seems so miscast in the lead role and it’s actually quite painful watching 007/Remington Steel end up in this kind of film.

The story is quite silly and they never seem to manage to find a way to make things more interesting to watch unfold.

The special effects are fine, but they aren’t as effective as they usually are in these kind of film usually are.

Tim Roth isn’t given enough to do here and his character feels a bit too flat.

I was quite surprised that this film was directed by Renny Harlin because it is such a long drop down from some of his greatest films from the past.

The biggest problem with this film is the fact that it has so much more potential and the right script could have made this idea come to life so much more efficiently and effectively, yet instead we get this mess.

The cast and crew are so much better than we eventually get in the finished product and that’s quite a huge disappointment.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The desert scene was shot in a real sandstorm. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
