Mission Impossible III (2006) – Encore Review

“You hung me out of a plane. You can tell a lot about a person’s character by how they treat people they don’t have to treat well. ” – Owen Davian

Brief Synopsis – Ethan Hunt must deal with a new adversary that is a sadistic and brutal arms dealer who wishes to kill him and his new fiance.

My Take on it – This is by far my favorite movie in the series of Mission Impossible films (so far).

This has largely to do with the fact that Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the villain in such a devious and mischievous way.

The story is faced paced and globe trots as usual but still manages to keep things focused throughout.

The gadgets that the characters use are great and allow for things to feel more realistic with a slight technological boost.

What makes this film stand out in my mind from all of the others is the fact that we finally get to see how they might react when their loved ones are threatens due to their personal actions.

This film was JJ Abrams directorial debut and its quite easy to see his hand in many of the facets of the movie.

The story is thrilling from start to finish and keep the momentum moving throughout.

Highly Recommended

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – After the success of Shaun of the Dead (2004), Simon Pegg was asked whether he was going to be pursuing a career in Hollywood, to which he laughed and replied “It’s not like I’m going to be in Mission: Impossible III”. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10) (upgrade from original review)
