Number of Times Seen – 1 (11 Jul 2021)
Brief Synopsis – Members of a committee that approves organ donation recipients must deal with the repercussions of their decisions 7 years later.
My Take on it – Such a unique and fascinating premise that works quite well and toes the line between drama and thriller.
The cast is superb with Kelsey Grammer and Julia Stiles both giving stellar performances here.
The way that the story moves back and forth in time is done quite adeptly because it allows the viewer to get a clear picture of everything involved in this story.
The movie is able to give the viewer an interesting viewpoint on everything involved in this decision making process and how ethical, philosophical and human aspects always interplay in this kind of situation.
Parts of the story seem far too predictable, but what is fascinating is the way that things move in that direction as the story unfolds via the flash backs and flash forwards along the way.
The debate between the various characters is fun to watch because it shed so much more light on this kind of situation.
The one annoying thing here is the horrendous toupee that Grammer wears in the scenes shot in the past, because it looks completely ridiculous no matter how you want to spin it.
They do a nice job showing how industry can have an affect on medical decisions as well as how other financial aspects can also be very large factor in the decision making process, for better or worse.
The story has a few holes in the plot along the way, yet still does a nice job presenting these characters and their personal dilemmas.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 20, 2021. (From IMDB)
