The Transporter (2002)

“Rule #1. Never change the deal. ” – Frank Martin

Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Jul 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A former special forces soldier hires himself out as a driver for specialty jobs.

My Take on it – Fun action film that doesn’t manage to work as well as one might hope.

Jason Statham is great as the lead here and this film helped launch his action hero career to the stratosphere.

The action sequences are choreographed really well and  show some very unique kinds of fighting styles.

The gadgets in the film are equally as important and they help this character survive through some very strange situations.

Statham plays this character in a very calm and collected way which helps keep the viewer at ease because he never seems phased by anything that happens around him.

Love the way that his character abides by certain rules of conduct which help make hi seem even more moral in all that he chooses to do along the way.

The biggest problem here is that the story itself is paper thin and never offers anything intelligent to the viewer.

This takes so much away from the movie because the plot is so thin and that makes it all seem far too superficial for its own good.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The trailer for the film showed Frank deflecting a missile with a tea tray. In the same scene in the film, the assault on Frank’s house, there is no sign of this in the released version. It was taken out at Jason Statham’s request because he didn’t think audiences would believe it. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
