Genre Guesstimation – 88 Minutes (2007)

The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.

This month’s genre has been chosen by Jess Manzo of French Toast Sunday and we will be reviewing our favorite Movies that take place over a 24 Hour Time Frame (Not including time loop movies).

Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Aug by sending them to

Try to think out of the box! Great choice Jess!

Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Movies that take place over a 24 Hour Time Frame (Not including time loop movies). ……

“Justice and truth – where do they intersect? ” – Jack Gramm

Number of Times Seen – Twice (2 Jul 2007 and 2 Aug 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A forensic psychologist must try and catch a new serial killer who seems to have a personal vendetta against him.

My Take on it – This is a great thriller that depends so heavily on the time factor.

The story unfolds at a great pace and keeps things so thrilling and suspenseful as things move along.

They have some great twists and turns that helps keep the true identity of the killer hidden throughout due to the ambiguous ways that it all comes across.

The cast is superb with Al Pacino leading things so well in a believable way.

He is helped along by Alicia Witt, Leelee Sobieski, Amy Brenneman, Willaim Forsythe and Neal McDonough who all add so much to the tension along the way.

The script is great because it leaves room for so many scenarios which enhances the suspense-fullness of it all as things unfold.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film runs in “real time” meaning that at the moment Jack Gramm is first told he has only 88 minutes to live, the remaining running time of the motion picture until the identity of the person who set Gramm up is exactly 88 minutes. (From IMDB)

Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Close. Thrilling story that just isn’t powerful enough in the way it plays out.

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
