This a Covid-19 2021 minireview!
“That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.” – Cheryl “Rhode Island”
Number of Times Seen – 1 (9 Aug 2021)
Brief Synopsis – An FBI agent is sent undercover at a beauty pageant in order to stop a mad bomber.
Bottom Line – This is a film that I have avoided for two decades despite enjoying many of Sandra Bullock’s films up until then. The premise seems too peculiar for me and nothing about it made me want to explore things more. The story is ok, but the biggest issue here is that Bullock just doesn’t work well enough in this kind of role. They are able to give the viewer some fun sequences when they try to cultivate the character to being a pageant member yet something constantly seems wrong with the way it all plays out. The story has a few nice surprises along the way that make it seem as if it isn’t as predictable as it would seem on the surface, but ultimately, they fail to make this more engaging and enjoyable based on the potential that it actually has.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Cheryl’s (Miss Rhode Island’s) answer to the question, “What is your idea of a perfect date?”, was actually used as an answer in a real-life beauty pageant. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
