Brief Synopsis – A comic book store employee and a call girl end up on the run from mobsters after they accidentally steal a suitcase of drugs.
My Take on it – This is the script that Quentin Tarantino supposedly sold in order to help finance Reservoir Dogs (1992).
The story is one that has been used often, but the twists and characterizations by Tarantino make it so unique feeling the whole way through.
The casting of Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette in the lead roles is great and they both help make these characters and their relationship feel so genuine in all that happens here.
The Tarantino dialogue is superb and roles right off the tongues of the cast.
The supporting cast is also great with Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, Chris Penn, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Brad Pitt, Michael Rapaport, Saul Rubinek, Bronson Pinchot, Gary Oldman and James Gandolfini all adding so much to the texture of everything that happens here.
The story is filled with some great twists and turns that allows for some great surprises along with lots of tension, suspense and action along the way.
Tony Scott does an amazing job directing this film and keeping it a non stop thriller from start to finish.
Highly Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Quentin Tarantino named the Sicilian scene as one of his proudest moments. “I had heard that whole speech about the Sicilians a long time ago, from a black guy living in my house. One day I was talking with a friend who was Sicilian and I just started telling that speech. And I thought: ‘Wow, that is a great scene, I gotta remember that’.” (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy (10/10) (no change from original review)
