Brief Synopsis – A stuntman uses his special car to try and kill young women who tease him in the bar.

My Take on it – One of the least effective Quentin Tarantino films ever made.

Kurt Russell is great as Stuntman Mike, but the fact that none of the characters are developed at all makes this film feel more like a horror film than not, essentially places all of the characters in line to be canon fodder.

The story is somehow stretched over nearly two hours but nothing really happens through most of it because of the simplistic story.

The movie relies too heavily on the dialogue by QT which is great, but still doesn’t help advance the story at all besides establishing the friendships between characters.

The car stunts are done well and stay quite thrilling and realistic throughout.

The story also unfolds in a strange way, yet still manages to keep the Tarantino aura to it based on the way that the characters are presented and how they give off their lines.

The film also has a clear black and white type main character which is very uncommon and unusual for films by Quentin Tarantino due to the expectation that there will be some kind of twist or surprise along the way.

Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The only Quentin Tarantino movie that takes place completely in chronological order and without flash-backs. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10) (slight downgrade from original review)

  1. I really like Death Proof, felt more old school, good music and dialogue too. The only scene I think is silly and unnecessary are the texts that Jungle Julia is sending that guy outside the bar.
