Beckett (2021)

“You don’t deserve a face like that.” – Beckett

Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 Aug 2021)

Brief Synopsis – After getting involved in a car accident while on vacation in Greece, an American inadvertently gets involved in a political conspiracy.

My Take on it – This is a film that I came across and knew nothing about.

What sold me on it was the fact that Denzel Washington’s son, John David plays the lead character.

They do a nice job showing how being trapped in a foreign country with no way to properly communicate can be so confusing and frustrating for a character.

The film unfortunately ends up coming off as seeming quite bland in all that they try and do here.

This kind of plot isn’t over complicated, but they do a poor job presenting it fully to the viewer.

The action scenes are alright but nothing really stands out since it all plays out like most movies in this kind of genre.

Alicia Vikander is also great in this film as her character does her best to keep him safe along their journey.

The chase scenes feel a bit too repetitive for their own good and don’t really add much to the way that the story unfolds.

Washington, like his father knows how to keep the audience interested by making his characters desperation feel more genuine and definitely has a long career ahead of him in the industry.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Originally titled ‘Born to be Murdered’ and set for traditional theatrical release before the distribution rights were acquired by Netflix and the title changed to ‘Beckett’. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
