Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021)

“Trust is a hard thing to come by these days.” – Snake Eyes

Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Aug 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A loner saves the life of a member of a Japanese Clan and is welcomed into their circle in order to train to become a powerful warrior.

My Take on it – As a kid, I LOVED GI JOE!

I collected the action figures, the comics and even enjoyed watching the cartoon.

The two previous live action movies that they made were sub-par and I had lots of hope that this film would break that pattern.

The film tries too hard to incorporate much of the origin story line of Snake Eyes from the comics, but the way that it comes out here is far from great.

The characters are developed in a way that if one isn’t already familiar with the back story from the comics, much of what happens doesn’t make much sense.

The action scenes are fun to watch and they are choreographed really well, but they can’t help make up for the problematic plot.

Henry Golding does a fine job in the lead role, but unfortunately he isn’t given enough to work with and that makes this film even harder to enjoy.

Unfortunately tho, this film doesn’t do much for the franchise or the characters and there isn’t gonna be much of a real reason to make more films in the future with these characters.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The first time Snake Eyes is depicted as a talking character. In the previous two films, he was a silent with no speaking roles. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
