Old (2021)

“There’s something wrong with this beach!” – Prisca

Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Sep 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A group of strangers on vacation come across a secluded beach that seems to cause changes in each of them.

My Take on it – Really interesting idea that works despite the fact that this was made by M. Night Shyamalan who has been disappointing for decades.

Really liked the way that they keep most of things ambiguous and mysterious and that helps add so much to the suspense pf it all as it unfolds.

The cast of characters are also great because they are all so very unique and that helps make things even more curious as to what is truly transpiring.

Due to the nature of the story tho, none of them are developed on more than a superficial level.

The story has its flaws and is far from perfect, yet the way it all plays out still keep its fascinating to watch unfold the whole way through.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – M. Night Shyamalan said the subject matter of the film, in which a group of people find themselves trapped on an isolated beach, dealing with a deadly phenomenon, mirrored the experience of being in lock-down, and the uncertainty of the Coronavirus pandemic, adding: “It was strange. We were making a film that had nothing to do with the pandemic, but at the same time it was absolutely about this fear and uncertainty we were all feeling. This fear of infection. It made us think very deeply about death, about survival, and about being in lock-down. This idea of being stuck in a situation and not being able to leave.” (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
