The Junction Boys (2002)

This a Covid-19 2021 minireview!

“Son, it’s gettin’ pretty clear to me that you want the fame without the sweat. Not on this team! The next time I catch you waving your press clippings at a tackler, you can pack your act back to East Texas.” – Bear Bryant

Number of Times Seen – 1 (26 Sep 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A look at how a young Bear Bryant was able to turn his players and team in to shape long before he became a household name.

Bottom Line – Great look at how a future ‘honored’ football coach started out on a smaller scale and how he ended up reaching the greatness he is known for. Tom Berenger is superb in the lead role and shows once again how great an actor he can be with this role. The training scenes are fun to watch even if parts feel like they’ve been seen previously in other sports/football films.

Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – With the movie being filmed in Australia, virtually all of the young men playing prospective Aggie football players were Australian. Therefore, all of the Texas accents – as convincing as they might’ve been – were indeed fake. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
