The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.
This month’s genre has been chosen by me!
Since the new James Bond film – No Time to Die (2021) is finally being released I have chosen that we will be reviewing our favorite Spy/Espionage Movies.
Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Sep by sending them to firstname.lastname@example.org
Try to think out of the box!
Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Spy/Espionage Movies…….
Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Oct 2021)
Brief Synopsis – A drunken professor is sent on a spy mission at the height of the Cold War in order to stop a Nuclear Strike.
My Take on it – Terrible film that fails to work on any level.
The characters are boring to watch and nothing of interest seems to happen as this story tries to unfold.
Bill Pullman is usually a great actor, but watching his performance here, makes it harder to bring a convincing case of that.
The movie tries too hard to find a way to make this story feel more relevant and true by having it transpire during the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis, but that actually dismisses things because of the absurdity of some of things that happen here.
The production value of this film is too low and it fails to bring a gripping or thrilling spy film which is shame.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Lead actor William Hurt broke his leg in an off-set accident a few days after filming started. The injury was so bad that he had to be replaced by actor Bill Pullman. (From IMDB)
Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Not even close…
Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
