In A Valley of Violence (2016)

“I’m not sure what you’d want me to do. I could just keep heading down to Mexico like we planned. I know I promised you that I was done killin’. But I think I’m gonna have to break that promise. I’m not done. Not yet. And it’s not done with me, either. Those men left me with nothing. I’m gonna leave them with less.” – Paul

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Oct 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A drifter in a small town is accosted for no reason which starts a snowball effect involving bloody revenge.

My Take on it – This is a movie that I came across by accident and was pleasantly surprised as to how enjoyable it was.

The story is a simple revenge story, but is presented in such a great way that it stays thrilling from start to finish.

The cast is superb with both Ethan Hawke and John Travolta giving stellar performances in their non-flashy roles.

The dialogue and conversations between the characters are enjoyable to listen to and add so much to the thrilling aspects of it all.

The action scenes come across quite realistically which also helps make this even more engaging to watch unfold.

The story is told in a minimalist way which also adds to the thrills and suspense of it all because there aren’t too many characters inhabiting this town, but the ones that show up each have some nice and unique characteristics about them.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Its screening at South by Southwest gained notoriety after comedian Doug Benson forcibly removed an audience member for using his cell phone throughout the screening. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
