Conception (2011)

“First the baby is in the mommy’s belly. Then she has to go to the bathroom. She poops the baby out. And that’s why they always stink.” – Interview Girl

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Oct 2021)

Brief Synopsis – 9 tales of couples as they all try to make the right kind of physical connection.

My Take on it – This is such a clever film concept that I must admit took me by surprise.

The beginning felt a bit jarring since it was rapidly moving between the various 9 storylines, but after a while, it was easier to get used to.

The cast is great and is filled with some very familiar faces, but the scope of this film is on the whole and not on the different segments, so the viewer isn’t given too much of each of these 9 stories.

The writing is superb and they allow the audience to experience 9 very unique stories that all have a connection between them.

The dialogue is fun to listen to since it helps each of these story arcs move along in a more profound way.

The random way that the stories jump between one another shows how adept the editing is because it really helps the various stories flow so well due to the way this all is put together.

The film never pulls any punches along the way which helps keep it feeling quite realistic as each of these stories moves along at their own unique kind of pacing.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop were dating at the time of filming Conception (2011). (From IMDB)
