No Man’s Land (2020)

“How dare you chase our son off to Mexico like he’s some criminal.” – Monica

Number of Times Seen – 1 (2 Nov 2021)

Brief Synopsis – Following an altercation at night on their land located near the Mexican border, a young man escapes to Mexico to try and right the wrong he committed.

My Take on it – This was a film that I came across by accident and was intrigued to see what it was all about.

Having Frank Grillo, Andie MacDowell and George Lopez in the cast also raised my hopes even higher.

Unfortunately, this film lacks any real emotion and their attempt to make this story more poignant fails over and over.

The characters aren’t developed well enough and despite feeling a bit sorry for some of them, there is really no reason to care more about any of them.

The story unfolds in a slow manner and keeps things a bit too ambiguous for it’s own good because there is no real way to make a clear decision on what is right or wrong in the way it plays out here.

The story unfortunately meanders along and takes some very strange and unnecessary turns while trying to add a bit more meat to this far too lean storyline which is quite a shame.

The one thing that I liked here was the dramatic role by George Lopez who plays a cop relentlessly trying to catch a fugitive and bring his to justice.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Nominated for Best Feature at the Almeria Western Film Festival (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
