Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Nov 2021)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the life and career of comedian Jerry Lewis.

My Take on it – This is a fascinating documentary because of the way that it gives a very comprehensive look at the life, career and success of one of the greatest comedians to ever show up.

The film is filled with numerous interviews with colleagues, friends and family of Lewis (plus Leis himself) as they try to explain why he became such a success in his career.

They explain why he turned to comedy at such an early age and how that affected his relationship with his parents.

They also show how he and Dean martin ended up accidentally starting a partnership that would go down in history as one of the very best in entertainment history.

The film also gives insight from Lewis himself on how things progressed over the many decades of his career which is so eye opening to hear.

They do a wonderful job integrating interviews with Lewis over the years with more recent ones that helps give so much of a profound perspective on everything that he did over the course of his career.

The movie also gives us an intriguing perspective as to why Lewis became so popular in France since his comedy is able to cross all language borders.
