Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Nov 2021)
Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the Presidential Campaign of the mayor of South Bend Indiana who became the first openly gay Presidential candidate in history.
My Take on it – This was a documentary that I was quite interested in seeing, but instead of being a story of inspiration, it comes across too much like a news article.
The film does manage to span the entire campaign of Buttigieg and grants exclusive access to the candidate and his team along the way, but nothing happens of interest as it moves forward which is a shame.
The movie feels much more like a promotional ad for any future campaigns of Mayor Pete and doesn’t manage to find a way to stay engaging and unique in any thing that they do here.
The film is chock full of news clips that make it feel as if it’s more of a news report than a documentary which makes it feel like something one can view on CNN instead of as a feature film documentary.
The interviews with many of the campaign members fails to enlighten the viewer in more information about the candidate because it seems to feel as if they are reiterating the same points over and over for nearly 90 minutes.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – If Buttigieg had won the Democratic party nomination and been elected, he would have been the youngest and first openly gay American president. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
