Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

“Every decision we ever make, who do we leave behind? And how do we leave them? Waiting in the darkness, but the rescuer never comes.” – Cletus Kasady

Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 Nov 2021)

Brief Synopsis – Photographer Eddie Brock continues to deal with the alien symbiote Venom that inhabits his body, but after a mishap during an interview with a serial killer, a new symbiote is released that causes even more damage.

My Take on it – Fun pseudo-superhero film that is filled with great special effects and great action.

Unfortunately, the characters are so shallow here that it makes things so difficult to care about anything that really happens here.

The destruction and chaotic scenes featuring Carnage are fun to watch even if they have no real anchor to all that transpires here.

Woody Harrelson plays Cletus Kasady and isn’t as villainous as his character seems to claim to be and that is quite a disappointment here.

This makes Harrelson performance so extraneous and a waste of time because ultimately he isn’t given much to do.

Tom Hardy is also a great actor but he also feels as if he deserves a much meatier role that could help him shine.

There are far too many plot holes in this film and that makes it even harder to not laugh at the absurdity of so many aspects of it along the way.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Tom Hardy received his first story credit for this film, making him the fifth person to receive writing credit for a comic book superhero film that he also starred in, after Christopher Reeve (Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man (2015)), Edward Norton (The Incredible Hulk (2008)) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool 2 (2018)). (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
