Amazon Women on the Moon (1987) – Encore Review

“I’m glad to see Slappy White here today. Now at least I know my hubcaps are safe. And Rip Taylor, is that a toupee, or did a beaver curl up and die on your head? As I look at Henny Youngman today, I’m not so sure we’re burying the right guy.” – Bernice Pitnik

Number of Times Seen – Between 5-10 times (Numerous times on cable, 25 Nov 2015 and 27 Nov 2021)

Brief Synopsis – A collections of skits revolving around a B-movie about the first astronauts to reach the moon.

My Take on it – This is a film that I have always enjoyed ever since I first saw it on cable during the 80’s.

John Landis is able to take a slew of skits featuring some very recognizable stars and make it all come together so well.

There are some skits that stand out among the rest despite them all being quite funny.

My favorite is the opening skit with Arsenio Hall as a man having a bad day and a close second is the blind date between Rosanna Arquette and Steve Guttenberg.

The choice to also add into the mix a number of fake commercials is great and helps give a few breaks along the way which is quite helpful.

In addition to the aforementioned actors, this film also features Peter Horton, Griffin Dunne, Michele Pfieffer, Steve Forrest, David Alan Grier, Ed begley Jr. and Kelly Preston to name just a few.

Even after almost 35 years, many of these jokes still stay funny no matter how often one watches it.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Shot in 1985, but not released theatrically until 1987. According to the “’80s Movies Rewind” website, it was completed in 1986 but not released in theaters for another year. It has been speculated that the reason for this was the court case with which John Landis was involved, relating to Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10) (no change from original review)
