“Well, that was a hoot and a half, wasn’t it?” – Ms. Flaucher
Number of Times Seen – 1 (28 Nov 2021)
Brief Synopsis – Two best friends go on a road trip to find a morning after birth control pill when one of them suspects she may be pregnant.
My Take on it – This is a movie that I heard about a few months ago and the premise sounded fun, so I decided to finally give it a try.
The story flows well and they manage to try and emulate the kind of teen sex comedies of the 80’s with a modern day twist to it.
The two main characters have great chemistry and help keep things fun the whole way through.
The story is both a comedy and a morality play on the dangers of underage sex and it works as well as it can.
There are some very funny situations that these characters get into along the way, yet there are some others that slightly cross the line of good taste even when trying to be funny.
The political correctness of the film is also a bit too blatant and that takes away slightly from things because sometimes it feels as if it is bending over backwards to show that they are being as inclusive as possible.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – During an interview with Jen White on the National Public Radio program 1A, director Natalie Morales said that the movie’s two lead actors, Kuhoo Verma (Sunny) and Victoria Moroles (Lupe) had to do their “chemistry auditions” (to see how well they would work together) over Zoom because of COVID-19 precautions. Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
