Brief Synopsis – A group of cowboys band together as they travel West and try to stop corruption in the new town of Silverado.

My Take on it – This is a film that has always been one of my favorite Westerns ever since I was a kid.

I recall watching it quite a lot on cable when it came out and even after 37 years, it still holds up really well.

I recently participated as a guest host on a MxM community podcast that will debut on 28th February and my good friend Todd from Forgotten Filmz and I had a blast recording our 5 episodes.

Check out the general podcast here and look for Todd and I sometime in June.

Tnx again to Jim O’Kane and all the other MxM’er who helped make this show possible!

The cast of this film is spectacular with Kevin KIine, Kevin Costner, Scott Glenn, Rosanna Arquette, Brian Dennehey, Danny Glover, Jeff Goldblum, John Cleese, Jeff Fahey and Linda Hunt all adding so much to the atmosphere of the story and helping to keep things both grounded and enterating the whole way thru.

The story was written by Lawrence Kasdan and is able to stay so fascinating and interesting as the story unfolds in directions that one might never suspect.

The music and theme song are superb and enhance things so much.

I have always loved the way that they get these very diverse characters together as things move along in a very engaging way throughout.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Kevin Costner was offered the role of Jake by Lawrence Kasdan, in part to make up for his role in The Big Chill (1983) being cut out of that film. This is a very standard thing in Hollywood: an actor gets passed over for one project so the director brings him back for another. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10) (no change from original review)
