“In the 19th Century calling someone a Mormon was akin to calling someone a Muslim terrorist.” – Ken Verdoia
Number of Times Seen – 1 (5 Jan 2022)
Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the history of the religious sect known as the Mormons.
My Take on it –I have always been fascinated with other religions and this documentary was quite eye opening about the Mormons.
I didn’t know that much about them before watching this besides the stories of many wives and the fact that they can’t have caffeine.
This is a pretty comprehensive documentary that tells the whole history of the faith, how it started and what happened to its followers over the years.
I found it to be quite informative and eye opening and that also made me understand how this religion may have been a bit misunderstood over the years.
The documentary takes it’s time explaining about the early history of the religion and its main personalities, yet the more modern portions of the story felt a bit too rushed for its own good.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Started by Joseph Smith in upstate New York during the 1820s. After Smith’s death in 1844 the movement split into several groups following different leaders; the majority followed Brigham Young, while smaller groups followed Joseph Smith III, Sidney Rigdon, and James Strang. Most of these smaller groups eventually coalesced into the Community of Christ, and the term Mormon typically refers to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), as today this branch is far larger than all the others combined.(From Wikipedia)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
