Ruby Ridge (2017)

“Guns were tools in our family. They were there for protection from wild animals and to hunt game. Guns were there for a purpose. ” – Sara Weaver

Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 Jan 2022)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the Federal raid on the house of a man who was part of the American Militia Movement and how the actions on that farm changed the fate of both the country defenders and those who wish to change it.

My Take on it – This was an eye opening documentary for me.

I knew the basic story pf what happened at Ruby Ridge, but they are able to give a more comprehensive look here at the events leading up to that confrontation along with what happened in the aftermath.

The ability to get first hand interviews from people who were there including the daughter of Randy Weaver is great to see because it allows the viewer to get a very unique perspective on what happened on that day.

There were far too many mistakes made on both sides and that is what led to even more tragedy afterwards.

This movie also shows how the militia movement was gaining strength at the time as their hatred for the government got stronger and stronger.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Based on the same real life events that were fictionalized in The Siege at Ruby Ridge (1996) and also depicted in other documentaries such as Retro Report: Ruby Ridge: American Standoff (2014), The Secret Rulers of the World: The Legend of Ruby Ridge (2001), Aftermath with William Shatner: Ruby Ridge (2010) and Ruby Ridge (2004). (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
